Our client is a well known successful branded retailer. They are currently looking for an Assistant Product Developer (duties relating to import merchandising or buying trainee level).
This is a great opportunity for a fashion or textile graduate, with experience working within a buying, merchandising or development related role either on the supply side or for a retailer.
The role will involve the following duties:
•Experience of CAD development via Photoshop or illustrator
•Managing all specs for initial concept/liaison with supply base – understanding and confirming the details.
•Managing all samples from pattern trial through to pre-production samples
•Updating style revision cards following each review meeting and each stage of the sampling process
•Managing the critical path for all sampling dates, ensuring that all dates are on time to the corporate calendar need dates
•Working to tight deadlines with the ability to multi task over all footwear brands
•Support with sourcing of new factories, tanneries and trims suppliers, logging all the details and keeping the supplier files up to date.
•Responsible for raising photo/location/salesman sample orders and chasing accordingly.
•Working closely with the product development team to ensure that all specs are correct/checked before sending to suppliers, advising Product team when samples arrive and setting up review meetings accordingly
•Update suppliers with new packaging requirements – working closely with our nominated packaging base and arranging for all samples to be approved accordingly, approving barcodes and labeling in co0ordination with the footwear QA
•Creation of footwear cads in black/white matt spec format followed by colour cads for development on the Hawkshead brand via illustrator
•Ensuring the key dates calendar for all suppliers is accurately submitted and suppliers follow the dates given
•Assisting with the raising of footwear purchase orders & amendments & enter on to the AS400 system in absence of the production assistant
•Assisting with the maintenance of all aspects of critical path & progress as required by establishing good relationship with suppliers by e-mail/video conference in relation to ordering of components and deliveries on time.
•Assisting with the raising, monitoring & progressing of footwear orders for 'on time' delivery of salesmen's samples.
•Work with and assist Footwear Technologist in any area required to achieve the job function.
