Join us as we dissect the 5 P’s, and decide just what exactly is the most important asset in the marketing mix, as our guests battle it out in Product vs. Promotion! We’ll be questioning two clashing industry giants on each of their conflicting views, as we ask which marketing tools are most effective in the rag trade?, and whether a good product can literally do all the work for you.
Our Heavyweights:
Roger Wade - Director, is the founder and ex owner of the original British street wear brand, Boxfresh. After spending a few years in advertising after graduating from University, Roger started Boxfresh in 1989. He grew the brand from a market stall, to an international brand selling in over 12 different countries, and major licensing agreements with high street players like JD and Boots. Boxfresh were reknowned pioneers of the British street scene, and were the first to import labels like Carhartt, Gapstar (now g-star) and Penfield into the UK. In 2005, roger sold Boxfresh to Pentland brands, the ex owners of Reebok, and formed his own brand consultancy, Brands Incorporated. Roger is a regular columnist for Drapers, www.drapersonline.com, and is a member of the cool brands council, www.superbrands.uk.com
David Mallon - owner and founder of leading fashion brands Ringspun and Elvis Jesus. Mallon began and developed his career into the international business it is today from scratch. He began by opening his first store at Affleck’s Palace, selling his product to the local Mancunian trendsetters. His label progressed and developed, as his product built its own reputation. David’s first independent label, Ringspun, created its own PR, the best in British denim, and as of today have created some future classics with opulent, expressive, quirky and larger than life designs, being sold not just in Europe but globally, and has become a firm and internationally loved brand, sold in 400 stores in the UK alone. Since 2006, David’s other creation, Elvis Jesus has become a celebrated brand, and is one of Harvey Nichols’ best selling, loved by the likes of David Beckham and Jay Z to name a few...
