Five Minutes with Daniel Crown
TFN caught up with Daniel Crown of lookfantastic.com about his first year at The Hut Group and his plans for the future.
The Fashion Network: You’ve been with Hut for just over a year, do you miss having your own single site?
Daniel Crown: The lookfantastic.com site hasn't really changed - the collaboration with The Hut allowed us to hand over elements such as distribution and customer services and focus on other areas such as marketing, PR, buying and editorial. This now allows us to deliver more content, information and engagement to our customers.
TFN: You were recently reported to have said that you hope lookfantastic.com will reach a £50m turn over this year? How has the beauty market been affected by the downturn in your opinion?
DC: We hope that lookfantastic.com will reach a turnover of £50m over the next few years - we're very happy with our growth as it stands, which is double digit.
We have continued to see strong growth during the difficult economic conditions. By offering great value for money, gifts with purchase and free worldwide delivery, we have worked very hard to keep our customers loyal.
TFN: Will LookFantastic.com utilise the power and expertise of bloggers to expand its Social Media offering?
DC: We currently have fantastic editorial personnel within our team who have very strong relationships with bloggers. We really value their opinion and input on the site and have big plans to expand the 'community' element of the site and work with them even more.
TFN: How does lookfantastic.com hope to expand in the male beauty arena?
DC: We currently have our men's grooming site - lookmantastic.com. The site is growing extremely rapidly and men's grooming is absolutely an area we are keen to continue working on. With men taking more and more interest in their appearance, we still see it as a growing industry.
TFN: Would lookfantastic.com ever hope to appeal to an Asian market by adding brands like Suqqu, famed for ‘skin lifting’ products?
Absolutely - we are always looking at the latest developments across the globe and our buying team will be keeping a close eye on the emerging brands and trends in Asia and the rest of the world.
