My Style Icon ... Clemence Poésy

From the moment she starred as the hypnotically beautiful Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Clemence Poésy's appeal was irresistible. Her beauty is undeniable and just on the right side of 'quriky', her acting finesse evident in both esteemed French and English language cinema; but it was the clothes, the simple, effortless and oh-so-parisian chic that have been a constant source of style inspiration.

For those of you not so familiar with her work, she is most recognizable as one third of the Chloé trinity: where she modelled alongside the gorgeous Anja Rubik and Chloe Sevigny for the brands first signature fragrance. Clémence is no stranger to the fashion world and is a front-row regular at all the major Paris shows, but with her newest role as Chuck Bass's Parisian squeeze on the hotly anticipated new season on Gossip Girl, her style star is sure to shoot off and propel her firmly into the Fashion A-list.

Clémence's personal style, for me, epitomises understated, effortless dressing: eclectic enough without it looking laboured, with influence clearly drawn from mainly classic shapes in pared-down, muted shades; though just scruffy enough to know that she's probably not slept, nor washed her hair in a few days and probably doesn't care. Her wardrobe transcends seamlessly between thrown-together daytime casual and just polished-enough evening attire, without fuss, over-accessorizing or flinging herself head first into fleeting fashion trends.

After all isn't that what great personal style is all about? Granted, Clémence was blessed with the face, the body and the enviable, and inherently Gallic 'je ne sais-quoi', but her simple, pared-down look makes her an original amongst so many in fashion; clamouring to look different and unique and most often fail spectacularly in doing so. As the Autumn/Winter Runways exhibited a shift to a more simple, classic and often lady-like look for the upcoming months, who better to look to than a true style ingénue, and one who I have a suspicion won't be going anywhere for some time.
