Local young fashion independent, 25 Ten, of Cheetham Street in Rochdale are opening their doors to fashion students of Hopwood Hall College.

Students of the local school are being commissioned to produce an own label fashion line for 25 Ten Boutique. The students will be given a brief by 25Ten and given guidance on their designs, from a comemrical perspective, and production right through to them being made for sale.

Kelly Turner-Mitchell of 25 Ten Boutique said, “I am sure that the prospect for the students of seeing their inspirations progress from simple ideas to a fashion show and then hopefully showcasing at Pure will be a very exciting one which should not only give the students a lot of motivation but also a great way for them to gain first hand professional experience. This is the talent of the future which needs to be nurtured.”

The line will hit rails in spring of 2011 and also, as mentioned by Kelly, will be exhibited at the Pure womenswear trade show in London, next February. The collaboration between 25 Ten and Hopwood Hall comes after this year’s Graduate Fashion Week which saw the latest graduating fashion student’s of the country’s biggest fashion institutions showcasing their final collections before stepping into the industry. This project should unearth some undiscovered talent and more importantly, should help students looking for a career in fashion design gain valuable experience and appraisal. 

Annette Houghton of Hopwood Hall college said of the project: “we are absolutely delighted to be working with local boutique, 25 Ten, on this collaborative project which is an exciting venture for our fashion and textile students. The students will benefit enormously by being given a brief and input from a real client which means that the students can learn to cope with the very specific aims and deadlines of working within the industry.”

MFN will be tracking the students of Hopwood Hall College throughout their creative endeavours with 25 Ten and will also showcase the new line next February, before their exhibition at Pure next year.
