Manchester’s recent mini heat wave got everyone from Withington to Rochdale in the mood for summer! To ensure that you are prepared for the next blissful splash of sunshine, MFN have compiled a top ten list of things to do before summer truly comes!

1. Beauty, from head to toes.

Feet must be well prepared before put on display in sandals this summer; therefore a night of pampering your tootsies is in order with the Lush Stepping Stone lemon-grass foot scrub at £2.75. Fancy going the extra mile, then indulge in the new All Inclusive Package from Lush for only £10 including handmade cosmetic goodies like cooling fair trade foot lotion, mud body mask exfoliator and sun cream.

2. To ensure that your body is as revitalised as your feet, all over body exfoliator and moisturiser are a must. If you didn’t go for the Lush package, try Body Shop’s summer fruits moisturising ranges available from £3.50 in the sale now. Make sure you don’t forget elbows and knees to make the application of the third summer-time must absolutely flawless.

3. You have to fake it in the North West; Manchester is not famous for sun so slap on the fake bake and bronze up ready for summer! AVON’s top rated tanning product is the Skin So Soft self tanning moisturiser, which kills two musts with one product and is currently half price at just £2.50. Ask your AVON representative or go online.

4. Protecting skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays has never been so en vogue. Jerry Hall and daughter Georgia May Jagger launch Invisible Zinc in the UK this summer, the latest Australian phenomenon since Ugg boots. Products contain natural zinc oxide and are totally organic. Now available in Selfridges.

5. Essential grooming.

9. Accessorise your summer.

Sunglasses are obviously a must; however, if you are prone to sitting on them or losing them stock up on cheap replaceable frames from the likes of H&M and Primark both from around £1 a pair. If you are a more careful shade-wearer, splash out on some designer face fashion at The Sunglass Hut in the Trafford Centre, now including accidental breakage guarantee. Perhaps nobody has an excuse to not wear designer shades this summer?

10. Now, party!

When the sun is out you have to be too, so why not enjoy the summer with a BBQ? Invite friends over, make them bring the food and play host with the gorgeous Bucket BBQ from John Lewis from only £9.99. The perfect size for city centre balcony BBQs.
