It's high time for a low heel
Following more blister inducing decades than one may care to recollect- involving years of navigating cobbled streets in quirky wedges, teetering in bars on spindly six inch columns and pursuing footwear perfection mounted upon platforms- it is time, fashion conscious women of the world, to herald a new era of the heeled shoe.
Endorsed by a pantheon of lusted after design houses, this seasons low heels are set to allow ladies who crave the undeniable effect upon one’s posture, in addition to a flattering few extra inches added to their height, that a heeled shoe delivers in a smaller than usual guise.
Whilst horror may be an initial response to the news of this latest shoe incarnation (perhaps invoking memories of the unmitigated disaster that was the kitten heel of the early nineties) fear not: the low heel of Spring/ Summer 2010 remain stylish, elegant and provides a much needed counter point for the romantic nude and blush shades that are set to dominate this seasons wardrobe.
Marc Jacobs perhaps exemplifies the use of this style as a contrast to the aforementioned colour trends which are to be prevalent throughout the summer months: his low heel made use of a simple black leather thong strap upon a grey base complete with a geisha inspired diminutive wedge, whilst Clavin Klein
followed suit with regards to the style of heel, preferring however to adhere more to summer trend conventions with a white T- bar interpretation. A guaranteed star of the low heeled show has inevitably got to be the distinctly Jack Sparrow- esque style unveiled by Chloe
featuring thick, cross over leather straps on a background of worn pale fabric and a dainty black heel, it’s power as a statement shoe renders it a must have for any woman willing to stage a rebellion against the accepted colour and texture trends for this season. Marni provided a style ideal for the evening- featuring a miniscule black heel and metallic gold straps, whilst Missoni
conversely displayed a model which would be a fabulous summer day shoe- interwoven golden and flesh toned ankle straps complete with a variety of textures and patterns and, not forgetting, this seasons must have wooden heel ensure it’s potential as one of this season’s hottest pieces of footwear.

Which ever style you choose to adopt as your Spring/ Summer 2010 shoe, one thing is for sure- coercing your grateful, much abused feet back into stilettos is not going to be an activity for the faint hearted.
