Collaborations seem ten-a-penny on the high street, with some to much success and others having the totally opposite effect.

I do get excited when I hear about a new collaboration, although I have to admit that sometimes I do cringe when I think that the collection will be all over the high street. The exclusivity does get lost but when the designer in question is clearly way out of your price budget, you get a nice feeling inside when thinking you could soon be wearing a piece that you could usually only dream of.

When I heard about that British menswear designer, Oliver Spencer were designing footwear collection for Topman I got that very same happy feeling. Although Oliver Spencer is fairly new to menswear, he has gain a cult following for his use of quality materials, interesting details and timeless designs. This five piece collection is based on two of Spencer's classic styles, a Desert boots and a Oxford lace-up, in five different colour-ways. What set's these shoes apart from the rest is the unique brick red soles, which also feature in Oliver Spencer's mainline collection.

Gordon Richardson, Topman Design's creative director is very excited about the prospect of bringing a new designer to a wider audience, ‘ Oliver has that innate skill of being able to reinterpret an iconic menswear item and with just the slightest tweak of proportion, colour and fabric, redefine it as a modern classic.”

The collection will be available from May 10th, exclusivley at Topman London, Oxford Street store, New York and online. Prices range from £75 for the shoes and £85 for the boots. For more on Oliver Spencer click here
