A Selfridges’ event rarely disappoints. So when the luxury department store announced that their annual ‘A Night of Nationals’ would be held on 1st October we knew this was a date to be firmly etched into the MFN calendar.

Thursday evening saw hoards of eager beauty enthusiasts pour through the walkway of the Trafford Centre’s marble court and into Selfridges’ beauty hall for an evening of entertainment and extravagance.

This was every woman’s wonderland with beauty treatments and offers galore. Although the store was open to shoppers, only those with pre- booked tickets were able to take full advantage of the offers which included: fantastic gifts with purchases, entry into the beauty prize draw and complimentary goody bags.

The drinks were flowing throughout the night courtesy of ‘Eve’ and delicious ‘krispy kreme doughnuts’ were also on hand to tempt ticket holders.

Adam Sidwell, make- up artist to the ‘Pussy Cat Dolls’ was in high demand at the Illamasqua counter where he could be found demonstrating his renowned make up techniques using oodles of glitter, colour and sparkle.

There was a swing band performing classic tunes to compliment the lively atmosphere.  And cabaret acts’ from ‘The Birdcage’ added a touch of flamboyance to the already vibrant spectacle.

After such an impressive evening, we were left to wonder how next years’ event would even compare!
