Who Are Manchester's Mystery Mob?
By Jessica Hughes
Last Sunday as many of us were sleeping off our hangovers, Manchester embraced a clan of blue hooded denim clad strangers strolling through its streets. At 1pm, the bemused people of Manchester stared as they made their way through the crowds along Market Street, Piccadilly Gardens and Exchange Square, and were also spotted causing a stir in the Arndale Centre and Selfridges sporting matching striped blue hooded tops and dark denim jeans. So who are these identical phantom figures? Hooligans? A new breed of cloned chavs? Or an ingenious marketing stunt? In the wake of recent viral marketing campaigns in London, has Manchester finally been invaded? Sunday’s raid has played upon the minds of even the most savvy fashionistas who pride themselves upon having their fingers on the fashion pulse, and the curious crew have now escaped off the radar as quickly as they appeared. Will they be back to reclaim their position in the limelight as Manchester’s mystery mob? Or will they remain the illusive ideology behind Manchester’s next big thing? While we ponder, we best keep our eyes peeled.
