Yes, it really happened, and in the freezing cold. Your probably thinking why would people do that for free, well in fact , the first 100 people to ‘dare to bare’ or turn up in their birthday suits would get clothing brands such as Ringspun and Religion worth upto £100 FREE including jeans, t-shirts and dresses for the females!

The General Store who were actually quite anxious about the turn out for their birthday because of the rain, but it was “Manchester’s Spirit” that made it successful. The atmosphere was great; laughs, excitement and the relief of stepping through those doors. It was really cold that day, Manager John said “It’s a good opportunity to do something different, its unique and with the weather conditions and the turn out we’ve had, it just shows enthusiasm, fun and the spirit of the shoppers.” Why such a big giveaway for The General Store? Joanna Simpson talks to Channel M…”The stores doing really well, you know its got its recognition for being unique, and it depends on those shoppers that are always coming back to us, so we thought what could be a better birthday surprise than ‘naked happy shoppers’.” Guys from the Living Room opposite the road queued for an hour, “It’s definitely worth standing in the rain, and you get to see girls in their underwear!” Another happy shopper said “its something to tell all the kids about.” Everybody enjoyed the day even though the weather was terrible. What a great way to celebrate a birthday.
